Under the direction of the Plant General Manager directs and coordinates the Production, Maintenance, Quality, Inventory Control and activities for all shifts of the Plant/Business Unit in support of Plant Objectives. Coordinates the operating budget process, establishes KPI targets, and directs capital investment planning for the Business Unit. Establishes and promotes a Total Quality System that effectively produces quality products in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Sr. Manager, Factory Operations positions the Plant/Business Unit to meet total business growth objectives.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities :
Plan and direct operations to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale goals and objectives.
Monitors process operations to determine process efficiency, causes of operating problems and/or deviations from standards
Reviews, evaluates and interprets process performance data
Provides executional oversight for the financial plans associated with the Plant/Business Unit
Serves as manufacturing representative on capital projects for Plant/Business Unit
Promotes and analyzes potential changes in the operation or process which will generate cost savings, production increases and/or reliability increases
Implements changes in procedures, equipment and/or materials to achieve maximum production at minimum cost
Work closely with Sales and Quality Assurance teams to ensure superior customer satisfaction and adjust production as needed to meet unique customer requirements.
Interacts with, assist, and support engineering design group to design, develop, launch and sustain the most cost effective and efficient equipment available.
Develops, reviews recommendations and tracks progress of major capital expenditures and departmental operational budgets.
Coordinate separate manufacturing operations or areas using common production equipment, methods, and standards over a multiple shift period
Monitors operating parameters to ensure that all quality requirements are met.
Lead and implement a Total Quality Systems approach for the Plant/Business Unit in support of Quality strategies.
Assist in reviewing production costs and product quality and assist in the modification of production and inventory control programs to maintain a profitable operation.
Support initiatives responsible for managing critical situations potentially impacting product quality and retrieval of product, as required.
Promote Continuous Improvement culture and drive implementation of all Continuous Improvement projects utilizing Six Sigma / Lean tools, empowering direct reports/associates to increase efficiency efforts in support of continuous improvement.
Develop actionable Individual Development Plans with direct reports to enhance professional career development and maximize capability.
Actively drive a culture of diversity and effectively leverage the differences of others.
Represents and supports the needs of Plant/Business Unit employees in developing strategies and implementing solutions that meet and/or exceed business goals and objectives.
Provides technical and operational coaching to staff in the attainment of production and quality targets.
Leverages appropriate resources and stakeholders in the timely management and resolution of issues, including the implementation of corrective actions and sustainable solutions.
Identifies business process improvement opportunities and secures the necessary resources and stakeholder support to implement sustainable solutions.
Achieves and sets forth Plant/Business Unit goals in regards to Plant/Business Unit Safety strategies and initiatives. Proactively seeks out innovative ways to achieve a safety perfect culture.
BS/BA degree required; Mechanical Engineering, Agriculture, or Technical degree highly preferred.
Min 7 years operations leadership experience.
5 Years managerial or supervisory experience.
Demonstrated leadership in driving continuous improvement projects utilizing programs such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPM and other Lean manufacturing concepts.
Strong customer-centric focus including experience working with Sales to define customer expectations, establish relevant KPIs, and help build/maintain strong relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.
Strong business acumen skills – understand financial statements; prepare and manage budgets and maintain appropriate cost controls, including prior P&L responsibility.
Strong technical skills with the ability assess operations, analyze data and prepare summary reports to chart progress and identify improvement opportunities.
Flexibility and adaptability, with the skills to relate well throughout all levels of the company.
Demonstrated ability of making good and timely decisions that result in successful and sustainable business outcomes
Strong drive for results, consistently achieving sustainable results, even under tough circumstances
Demonstrated experience of building effective teams, establishing strong-identity teams that leverage diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals
Effectively communication skills (verbal, written, listening) that convey a clear understanding of and modulation to the unique needs of different audiences
