Job Description

As a shipping clerk, this distribution associate provides work leadership and performs manual and clerical duties related to the shipment and receipt of materials, supplies, equipment and finished products. The person in this position must effectively coordinate teamwork activities and will at times be required to assist with manufacturing opportunities.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead receipt of goods by verifying items against the record of shipment and inspecting condition.

  • Verify and maintain records of outgoing shipments.

  • Prepare items for shipment which may include wood crating and packaging in accordance to specifications and transportation methods.

  • Physically loading product on assigned trucks or flatbeds in accordance to policies.

  • Arranging for the transportation of finished goods with outside transportation companies.

  • Check goods against shipping documents and authorizations.

  • Verify product identification and quality.

  • Record received and shipped items according to established procedures.

  • Complete written and computerized documentation.

  • Monitors parts and materials within the department and expedites when needed.

  • Resolve inventory variances, tracking errors and a wide variety of other issues.



Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires at least 5 years related experience. Will require forklift certification.

Must possess a strong passion for attention to detail and safety practices. Must have knowledge of shipping and receiving processes to include handling exceptions. Requires basic reading, writing and numerical ability. Effective verbal communication skills. Effectively coordinates team work activities. Valid driver’s license with good driving record may be required. Able to operate powered equipment such as forklift, table saw, nail/staple gun and over-head crane.Must have a working knowledge of manufacturing and distribution processes. Able to read tape measure, perform calculations, and write legibly. Reads and interprets specifications and assembly schematics. Basic ability to effectively coach and influence others while socializing/reinforcing the appropriate functional/operational direction. Displays sound judgment and leadership. Working knowledge of IT solutions (SAP is a plus).Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
